IndiGo tops missing baggage complaints during January


Indigo, the country's leading airline by market share, accounted for more than one-third of missing baggage complaints during January while SpiceJet had the highest number of complaints regarding refund and flight problems.

According to official figures, of the total 1,197 complaints for various service deficiencies of airlines during the month, 274 were about baggage issues with 103 complaints coming from passengers who travelled by low-cost carrier IndiGo, which as the market leader also carries more than a third of total passengers.

Apart from baggage problems, other complaints received by the airlines are related to issues such as refund, flights, customer service and fares, among others.

SpiceJet had the maximum number of complaints in January (330) followed by national carrier Air India (252) and Jet Airways (229), the data showed.

While SpiceJet received the maximum number of complaints over refund issues and flight problems, majority of complaints against AI were on account of flights and customer service, according to the data.

Most of the complaints by Jet customers were related to flights while it also received the highest number of complaints (32) on staff behaviour during January 2015. - MTB
