A study suggests people who take too little night sleep, they should get a nap in daytime to boost immunity. The sleep deprivation can affect many negative results to your health.
It reduces brain functions, metabolism, hormones, and immunity. A research found taking 30 minutes for sleep can restore alertness, reduce stress, improve immune system, said Brice Faraut, a sleep researcher at Université Paris Descartes - Sorbonne Paris Cité in France.
11 healthy young men were studied by Faraut and colleagues. These 11 young men were separated for two times in study.
In the first session, they got enough sleep as they liked for one night, but next night they were allowed to sleep for two hours. In the third night the men can sleep as they need.
The second session was the same, but these 11 men were allowed to take two nap times for 30 minutes after they were restricted time on night sleep.
The study measures levels of norepinephrine that is a substance to make stress and increase blood pressure. Researchers found the double levels of norepinephrine in urine and saliva in the men who were restricted in night sleep, compared to the day that they had slept enough. But the norepinephrine was no change when they got to nap for one time or more a day.
