World's Largest Apple Store May Be Built In Dubai Mall

Apple may open its largest retail store in Dubai Reuters

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is reportedly planning expand its retail empire to the Middle East with its largest retail store ever.

Following job postings for Apple retail positions in the United Arab Emirates, EdgarDaily reported on Tuesday that the Cupertino, California tech titan plans to build its largest store in Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates, home to over 700 stores, not to mention an indoor ski slope. The store would serve as Apple’s first flagship store in the Middle East.

Job listings posted on August 15 hinted at the possibility of a store opening up in the UAE. But at the time, there was no indication what city Apple was planning to open the store in, according to Ifo Apple Store. Currently, 13 positions are listed for Apple retail operations in the UAE, according to its careers website.

Should the Dubai Apple Store become the largest Apple store, it would unseat the current holder of the title, Apple’s 23,000 sq. ft. Grand Central Station retail location in New York.

An Apple retail store opening in the Middle East would also benefit the company as it look to expand its customer base globally. While it hasn’t had a physical presence in the country, Apple’s Online Store for the United Arab Emirates has been open since 2011.

Apple CEO Tim Cook previously visited Dubai in February to meet with UAE Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, reportedly discussing education and business initiatives in the country.
